Watershed Warriors: Bonsall Bridge 100th Anniversary

Angel Mason Broadus February 6, 2025

Join I Love A Clean San Diego, Your Bonsall Ambassador, and the County of San Diego for a litter cleanup and celebration of Bonsall Bridge’s 100th Anniversary! We will divert litter from our watersheds and keep it from traveling to the Pacific Ocean.

Our staff will have check-in ready for you on-site. Be sure to wear comfortable clothes, closed-toed shoes, some form of sun protection (sunscreen or a hat), and bring a water bottle or two! Staff will be providing everything else you will need! After a short orientation and safety talk you will be sent off to remove litter around the area! Staff will sort and dispose of the collected litter and after the cleanup, you can request community service verification in your Community Hub dashboard.

WAIVERS: This event requires a signed release-of-liability waiver for all volunteers, and anyone under 18 needs a waiver signed by a guardian. Please download and print the waiver below, sign, and bring with you to this cleanup. No printer? No problem! We will have waivers at check-in for volunteers. If you are under 18 please have your guardian check in with us at the cleanup to sign off on your participation.

WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY: Our events are rain or shine! If it is raining on your cleanup day, we recommend rain boots, a raincoat, and a towel to dry off afterward.

One CSUSM

Monica Martinez April 2, 2024

Together we are #OneCSUSM, raising money for student scholarships which helps close important gaps in aid for our students. For many students, financial support from family is not an option – nearly 70% of our students receive financial aid. Scholarships are a vital component to success, encouraging our students to persist to graduation and experience the sense of pride that comes from earning a degree.

Open to all enrolled students, the General Scholarship supports CSUSM students who experience an array of financial issues that would impede their degree progress. Many are experiencing catastrophic events, like loss of income, the death of a parent, or struggling to meet basic needs. Your gift to the General Scholarship will go to our students who need financial assistance the most.

So many scholarship recipients express how much it means to them knowing that someone they’ve never met wants to see them achieve their goals. Join us and carry the flag for our students on April 4th at www.csusm.edu/onecsusm.

Chicken & Biscuits

North County Philanthropy Council February 6, 2024

Directed by Kevin “Blax” Burroughs, the Southern California Premiere of Chicken & Biscuits by Douglas Lyons March 8 through March 24, reveals the rivalry between sisters Baneatta and Beverly when they come together to bury their father. Between Beverly’s flaunting of her “blessings” at the chapel, the accompaniment of Baneatta’s son by his neurotic Jewish boyfriend of whom she disapproves, and Beverly’s overly inquisitive daughter poking into everyone’s business, the family is not so sure they can make it through the day without killing one another! Baneatta’s pastor husband tries to mediate the family drama while officiating the funeral, but when a shocking family secret is revealed during the ceremony, the siblings are faced with a truth that could either heal or break them.
