Into the Woods
Open Book Theatre Company presents, Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” as their debut production. This musical is a fun and fresh take on classic storybook tales where characters you know and love meet in the woods on their journey to get their wish. Actors ranging in ages 13-18 can’t wait to perform for your enjoyment!
Artist Open House “Summer Fun”
Experience the captivating ambiance of the Brooks Theater Gallery’s Artist Open House, where “Summer Fun” takes center stage on June 16, from 5:30 pm to 8 pm. The “Summer Fun” art exhibition in the Sunshine Brooks Theater showcases the art of the North County Society of Fine Arts (NCSFA) members. Each piece has been judged by Gallery Curator Carol Naegele, and the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention winners will be announced during the Artist Open House. Enjoy ice cream sundaes, live Hawaiian and soft jazz music by Adrian DeMain, live art demonstrations, tours of the theater, and of course art! All are welcome to attend. “Friendship” will be on exhibit May 2nd – May 31st. The artist open house is a free community event that will feature an artist demonstration, live music, light refreshments and mini-tours of the theater. Visitors will take trips through the costume and prop room, the tech loft, the main stage, the makeup room, the studio, and the shop, while discussing some of the history and mystery of the Brooks Theater.
Face 2 Face: Portraits and Self-Portraits
“Face 2 Face: Portraits and Self-Portraits” will be on exhibit March 29 – May 1. The artist open house on April 7 from 5- 8 pm will feature an artist demonstration, live music, light refreshments and mini-tours of the theater. Tours take visitors through the costume and prop room, the Tech Loft, the main stage, the makeup room, the studio, and the shop, while discussing some of the history and mystery of the Brooks Theater.

“Take a Chance” Art Opening
Discover a new perspective with the dozens of artists who took a chance and submitted their paintings to OTC’s Brooks Theater Gallery for our March exhibit. Debuting before the preview show of “Lucky Stiff,” the art opening is a free event offering live music and an artist demo.
Black Rootedness, A Poetry Reading
An exploration of the themes of home, love, collective memory, and strong women, Black Rootedness, A Poetry Reading builds community across continents through verse. Inspired by the anthology Black Rootedness: 54 Poets from Africa to America, edited by Karla Brundage of the West Oakland to West Africa project, this poetry reading features writers from California to Kenya. Join Karla Brundage and Oceanside’s Rameses Setekh of Sown in Truth Orations as they host on Saturday, December 10 at the Oceanside Theatre Company at the Brooks, 217 N. Coast Hwy, Oceanside.
