What do you know about hate crimes, hate incidents, and reporting? What would you like to know? What would you like to see from how the Center engages with the community? How can we provide opportunities for education and support?

The North County LGBTQ Resource Center wants to bring our community together to better understand concerns around hate, how hate is showing up in our community, and how to protect and organize around hate crimes.

Nonprofit NetWalk in Balboa Park with Institute of Contemporary Art, San Diego

Join High Five’s Nonprofit NetWalk! This free walk meetup is a fun, relaxed, and informal way to connect and network with fellow nonprofit leaders, funders, and Board members.

We will be hosted by Beau Box, HR & Operations Manager at the Institute of Contemporary Art, San Diego, who will share information about the organization’s mission, vision, and current exhibitions and programs. We’ll meet at the museum’s front entry on El Prado in Balboa Park, and walk to the nearby rose and cactus gardens.

Time & Date: Friday, November 17 from 8:30-10am

Location: Institute of Contemporary Art at 439 El Prado, San Diego, CA 92101

Who can attend: Anyone in the nonprofit and philanthropic field. Leashed and well-behaved furry friends are welcome to join us on the walk portion only.

Difficulty level: Easy. The walk will be from the museum’s front entry on El Prado in Balboa Park and will lead up Balboa Dr. to the Cabrillo Canyon Bridge, over to Park Blvd., and back to the museum.

Parking: Free parking is available in nearby parking lots.

Additional info: Dress is casual with comfortable shoes. Light refreshments will be provided.

MoveFTT: Mile-a-day Challenge for Dementia

KEY DETAILS:

35 day mile-a-day challenge to bring direct support to dementia families and brain health advocacy to the public.

Registration is now open for the third annual MoveFTT (Move For Their Thoughts)

BEGINS: September 18 through October 22, 2023.

Registration Deadline: Saturday, September 16th!

ABOUT MoveFTT:

You may walk, run, bike, swim…just move! mile a day for 35 days to improve their brain health while helping dementia families feel seen, heard and not alone!

Registration may be as an individual or a team.

Participants pledge $1, $2 or $4 a day and earn their pledge back each day they accomplish at least one consecutive mile.  You may also donate you pledge back to the organization or opt to raise $100 through donations or individual sponsorships and join MoveFTT for free.

As a fundraiser, MoveFTT helps For Their Thoughts® Foundation to improve the lives of dementia caregivers nationwide by providing one-time, necessary financial grants and personalized care navigation to families who otherwise may feel alone and unsupported.

39th Annual Coastal Cleanup Day

North County Philanthropy Council July 19, 2023

This year, our countywide Coastal Cleanup Day returns with 100+ locations for volunteers to choose from, inland and coastal.
I Love A Clean San Diego leads the efforts during the event and is coordinated by the Ocean Conservancy with partnering volunteer organizations to create the largest international cleanup day in San Diego County. Data collected from this event is sent directly into the world’s largest database on marine debris and volunteers get to make a tangible impact in their communities.
