Intro to Earth-Based Judaism Series (4 classes)

North County Philanthropy Council October 5, 2023

In this four-part pilot class, we will gather in lovely locations across the Farm to explore 4 basic pathways into the spiritual revolution called Earth-Based Judaism — and how to bring those pathways back into your life. The goal is more resilience, earth-love, responsibility, and joy.

Our learning will include sacred Jewish texts and wisdom, hearty conversation, on-our-feet exploration and play, and moments of quiet reflection. We’ll also provide coffee, pastries, and time to schmooze.

The classes will be nourished by the connections we forge with each other as much as by the content we explore, and that’s why we are capping registration at 30. This series is open to adults of all ages, identities, abilities, and experience levels. You do not need to identify as Jewish to attend!

$100/person for the whole series (4 classes: 10/22, 11/5, 11/19, 12/3). We strongly encourage registrants to attend all 4 classes. We are unable to prorate for partial attendance or offer refunds. Max capacity 30 people.

Farm-Food for Thought: Gather & Feast

Monica Martinez September 22, 2023

Calling all foodies! Food is your canvas during this 3-part Fall series. Get your farm and food fix alongside a diverse community exploring Jewish holiday cooking and learning.

Join three Coastal Roots Farm staff – Post Harvest/Distribution Coordinator & chef Julia Meyer, Director of Jewish Life Rebecca Joy Fletcher, and educator & sommelier Nora Mitchell – in a cooking and learning class celebrating the Jewish harvest holiday of Sukkot. Together, we will create a delicious, Farm-produce inspired light meal which we’ll share inside our sukkah, or rustic holiday booth. Throughout, we’ll explore the spiritual importance of gathering, particularly during transitions between seasons.

Farm Film & Music Series: Tribal Waters

Monica Martinez September 12, 2023

Tribal Waters directed by Jon Klaczkiewicz, a film by Teton Gravity Research presented by Patagonia, documents the course and history of the magnificent Wind River, now the home waters of the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Tribes. The story of the Wind is a record of stolen ancestral lands, insatiable agricultural demands and a mercurial, unreliable American justice system.

6pm Doors open.

Enjoy live music by Anne:Rice and tabling with local organizations.

Tishrei Ag Festival

Monica Martinez July 27, 2023

Save the date: Tishrei Ag Fest 2023

A purposeful alternative to our Sukkot Harvest Festival!

The month of Tishrei encompasses the Jewish holidays known as “the chaggim (holidays)” – Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Simchat Torah. The start of the month is marked by the sliver of a new moon that grows increasingly bright with each passing day.

Embracing the light of our beloved Sukkot Harvest Festival, Coastal Roots Farm’s first-ever Tishrei Ag Fest will also elevate these other holidays and invite us to kick off the joyous and regenerative beginning of this Jewish year.

Sunday, September 10th from 10am-2pm
Suggested donation: $20/adult, $10/child

Registration opens August 1st!
