Premier Plus Members Making a Difference: JEWISH COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Premier Plus Members Making a Difference: JEWISH COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

Donna Freher-lyons October 28, 2025

Jewish Community Foundation San Diego (JCF) builds flourishing Jewish communities and advances sustainable, just, and vibrant societies in San Diego, Israel, nationally, and around the globe. JCF collaborates with individuals and organizations, leveraging philanthropic capital for positive impact. Guided by Jewish values, JCF combines donor-driven philanthropy, investing, and education with trusted, personalized service, enabling individuals and organizations to effectively dedicate their resources for maximum benefit in the community.

Recent Accomplishments (Past 6–12 Months)

Over the past year, the Jewish Community Foundation San Diego has deepened its impact by bringing philanthropists together around shared values of education, connection, and community change. Our team has combined with Leichtag Foundation’s philanthropy team – Impact Cubed – integrating our philanthropic advisory services, educational offerings, nonprofit capacity building efforts, and remain committed to supporting strong Jewish and civic organizations.

We hosted numerous programs that fostered meaningful dialogue and spurred community investment, including:

 Educational site visits to local nonprofits, offering funders firsthand insight into the organizations they support

 Lectures and panels featuring leading experts on a variety of impact areas, including medical innovation and social research

 Interactive webinars with grassroots changemakers tackling urgent challenges locally and globally

 Engaging gatherings that built bridges between philanthropists and nonprofit leaders, sparking new partnerships and innovative approaches to giving

Each of these programs strengthened our philanthropic network and helped drive more informed, strategic giving throughout San Diego’s Jewish and broader communities.

Upcoming events, programs, or initiatives

Fundraising Fridays offers an informal, virtual (and very popular!) hour for local colleagues in philanthropy to share advice on fundraising matters in partnership with NCPC and AFP San Diego.

Ways the community can engage or get involved with our organization

JCF supports individuals and families with their philanthropy, nonprofit organizations build capacity, and provides professional advisors with unique learning opportunities to support clients with charitable planning.

For almost 60 years, JCF has partnered with thousands of donors to grant more than $2 billion to important causes.

Organizations can partner with JCF through education, consulting, and top-notch professional investment management services for custodial and endowment funds. JCF manages over $200 million in endowment and custodial assets for over 90 secular and Jewish organizations in San Diego.

Our experience with NCPC

Among the many rewards of NCPC membership, we appreciate the capacity building opportunities for our region’s social impact professionals and organizations that lead to a stronger field. We are also so grateful for the collaborations and partnerships that enhance all our work and reach.

Celebrating Excellence

The JCF team congratulates our senior vice president, Sharyn Goodson, on being recognized with the 2025 Spirit of Carol Sigelman Award. Sharyn proactively partners with nonprofits across the San Diego region to advise on collaboration, fundraising capacity, governance, and more. Sharyn has worked extensively with NCPC to ensure our local nonprofits and philanthropy thrive.
