At the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos, we believe every child deserves to have a fun, safe, and supportive place to be a kid. A place to connect with their peers, find encouragement from mentors, explore new passions, and develop the skills and confidence they need to reach their full potential.
Since 1979, Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos (BGCSM) has been a leader in youth development, driven by its mission to inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible, and caring citizens. Delivering a range of engaging programs focused on academics, health and wellbeing, and leadership development, we strive to provide a world-class Club experience that assures success is within reach of every young person who walks comes through our doors, with all members on track to graduate high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle.
BGCSM is proud to be a member of NCPC and grateful for opportunities to engage and collaborate with a network of organizations working toward the same collective goal of uplifting our North County community.
On Saturday, August 9, BGCSM will host Flapjacks for Backpacks, an annual pancake breakfast fundraiser and community resource fair that connects more than 1,000 youth and their families with local businesses and nonprofits. The morning features a pancake breakfast benefiting afterschool program scholarships, a backpack and school supply giveaway for kids, and more than 30 booths offering free health screenings, games, and other resources to help families prepare for the new school year.

Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos opened its doors in 1979 at Woodland Park serving several hundred youth members. In 1996, the 16,000 square-foot flagship Clubhouse, the Jennifer Loscher Branch, was opened with a million-dollar operating budget and nearly 1,000 youth members. In 2005, the 6,500 square-foot Teen Center opened to serve high school-aged youth.
The organization’s growth has continued over the years and now serves more than 2,500 children and teens with the addition of a second standalone Clubhouse, the Walter J. & Betty C. Zable Foundation Branch, and 12 extension sites throughout San Marcos on school campuses and within affordable housing communities.
