Trisha Gooch

Featuring Trisha Gooch

After a successful career in the entertainment industry, Trisha turned her energies to nonprofit fundraising in 2002. She has 21 years of fundraising, marketing communications, strategic planning, nonprofit management and leadership experience. She has a bachelor’s degree in writing and editing from the City University of New York and has served in leadership and development roles at the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Mainly Mozart, National Alliance on Mental Illness, San Diego Food Bank, Second Chance, San Diego Dance Theater, Casa de Amistad and Youth Empowerment. Trisha has volunteered as Board Secretary for Voices of Our City Choir, Just in Time for Foster Youth, AFP San Diego, Arts Connections and North County Philanthropy Council. She earned her CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) designation in 2012.

Her first career was as a professional singer and actress in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Australia, the Far East and New York City. Three special credits include the National Touring Company of “Les Misèrables” (Fantine understudy), the world premiere of “The Who’s Tommy” at the La Jolla Playhouse, the lead role in “Evita” and “Blood Brothers” and multiple characters in San Francisco’s long-running musical review, “Beach Blanket Babylon.”

 

Moderated by DeMilo Young

DeMilo Young is the Founder, President, and CEO of BIPOC Support Foundation (BSF). BSF is a nonprofit organization that conducts programs and activities to support and educate traditionally underserved communities. Her work focuses on improving diversity in entrepreneurship and promoting economic growth for historically underrepresented persons. DeMilo is a lifelong advocate of racial justice and equity. In 2015, she organized peaceful vigils and marches for families who were victims of racial violence.

 

Additionally, DeMilo has 20 years of experience in customer relations and sales. She is a people manager who has overseen brand ambassadors, performers, and staff for South by Southwest, Pechanga Arena, and events such as San Diego Comic Con International. A former San Diego Charger Girl, DeMilo has performed in two Super Bowls and a number of stage productions.
