Managing Director, Oceanside Theatre Company
Alex has been a member of the NCPC board since 2015 and has served as the Interim Managing Director of Oceanside Theatre Company since April 2022.
Previously, he served for 6 years as the Managing Director of New Village Arts where he oversaw numerous partnerships with Carlsbad businesses, collaborated with city staff and elected officials on NVA’s first long-term lease, and launched a $2.5 million renovation campaign to be completed by Summer 2022.
He spent three and a half years at La Jolla Playhouse, first as the Audience Development Manager and then as Corporate Relations Manager, working extensively with UC San Diego, several of the top innovative companies in the high-tech and bio-tech sectors, and many military organizations throughout San Diego County. In Chicago, around the turn of the millennium, Goodman worked with several large and small theatre companies including Victory Gardens, Steppenwolf, and the award-winning Strawdog Theatre where he served as Managing Director for two years.
He is also the co-founder of MOB Productions, a theatre company dedicated to the shared experience of popular culture. Goodman earned his BA in Theatre from Western Michigan University and his MFA in Theatre Management from Wayne State University in his hometown of Detroit. Goodman currently serves on the boards of North County Arts Network and The San Diego Regional Arts and Culture Coalition and is a graduate of the American Express Leadership Academy through the Center for Creative Leadership. He lives in Oceanside with his wife and three children.
