Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Development Manager to lead the development and implementation of comprehensive fundraising strategies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fundraising, coupled with a deep understanding of agriculture, sustainability, and the unique opportunities and challenges within this industry.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive fundraising efforts for our agricultural products, particularly our organic avocados, as well as our broader services. You will work to build meaningful relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders, ensuring the alignment of funding efforts with the organization’s mission and long-term goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising Strategy: Collaborate with senior leadership to create and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies that support Heal The Earth’s mission, goals, and objectives.
Donor Cultivation & Stewardship: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with current and potential donors, including individuals, corporations, and foundations. Engage donors with personalized communications and create tailored giving opportunities.
Campaign Management: Lead and execute a range of fundraising campaigns, including online giving, peer-to-peer fundraising, direct mail, and corporate partnerships.
Grant Writing & Reporting: Research, write, and submit grant proposals to foundations, government agencies, and corporate partners. Prepare timely and transparent impact reports for funders to demonstrate the outcomes of their support.
Event Planning & Execution: Organize and lead fundraising events, such as virtual campaigns, community outreach initiatives, or high-level donor galas, that align with the mission and vision of Heal The Earth.
Donor Communications: Develop engaging content for donor newsletters, email campaigns, and social media, providing updates on projects and the impact of their contributions.
Collaborate with Marketing Team: Partner with the Marketing Team to ensure consistent messaging across all social media platforms.
Tracking & Reporting: Manage donor records, track donations, and provide regular progress reports on fundraising activities. Utilize CRM software to maintain and analyze donor data for strategic engagement and stewardship.
Corporate Partnerships: Identify and develop new partnerships with corporations that align with our mission and values. Negotiate sponsorship agreements and support corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Community Engagement: Engage local communities, influencers, and volunteers in fundraising efforts. Mobilize networks to increase awareness and support for Heal The Earth’s programs.
Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of fundraising experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector. Experience in environmental or sustainability-focused organizations is highly preferred.
Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to craft compelling messages that resonate with a diverse audience of potential donors.
Relationship Building: Proven track record of building and maintaining strong relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation partners.
Campaign Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple fundraising campaigns, including digital campaigns, events, and direct outreach.
Grant Writing: Strong experience with writing successful grant proposals and reports.
Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang), email marketing tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Self-Starter & Goal-Oriented: Ability to work independently and meet fundraising targets and deadlines.
Team-Oriented: Collaborative, with a positive attitude and a team-first mentality.
Flexible & Adaptable: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-evolving nonprofit environment with the flexibility to take on various roles and responsibilities as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual
Experience in fundraising for agricultural products or sustainability-focused organizations.
Knowledge of organic farming practices and the challenges facing the agriculture industry today.
Familiarity with fundraising software and CRM systems.
