Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Philanthropy Manager will spearhead fundraising initiatives, manage donor relationships, and drive philanthropic growth for the organization. This pivotal role involves overseeing existing donor partnerships, as well as identifying, cultivating, and securing new funding sources. Working in close collaboration with the Board of Directors, Philanthropy Committee, and leadership team, the Philanthropy Manager will implement a comprehensive philanthropy strategy to ensure financial sustainability and expansion.
This full-time leadership position is an integral part of our organization’s development efforts and offers a hybrid work environment with flexible scheduling options.
Key Responsibilities:
Fundraising & Donor Cultivation (50%)
– Lead the cultivation and expansion of individual, corporate, and foundation donor portfolios.
– Manage and prioritize grant application processes.
– Develop and execute strategies to engage, solicit, and steward donors, with a focus on enhancing retention rates and donation levels.
– Oversee donor database management to ensure accurate tracking and reporting.
– Design and implement initiatives for recurring giving programs and legacy giving campaigns.
– Engage with patrons and ticket buyers to convert them into long-term supporters.
Event Planning & Community Engagement (20%)
– Plan and execute donor events in collaboration with the Philanthropy Committee.
– Secure corporate sponsorships and enhance donor engagement at events.
– Represent CCAE Theatricals at networking functions, conferences, and board retreats.
Strategic Leadership & Administration (20%)
– Provide guidance and mentorship to the Philanthropy Apprentice and Arts Administration Fellow, ensuring efficient CRM management and grant tracking.
– Collaborate with the Executive Director and leadership team to involve the Board and volunteers in fundraising endeavors.
– Track and report fundraising progress through monthly dashboards and board updates.
– Establish and monitor philanthropic goals in alignment with the annual budget.
– Offer innovative ideas to drive the implementation of the philanthropy plan while making strategic decisions on action items.
Training & Development (10%)
– Train staff and volunteers to support fundraising efforts, including staffing fundraising booths at events.
– Create donor-centric marketing materials (flyers, brochures, etc.) to promote a culture of giving.
Performance Metrics:
– Achieve annual fundraising targets.
– Conduct weekly donor visits, calls, and solicitations.
– Attend monthly board meetings and philanthropy committee gatherings.
– Enhance donor retention rates and secure corporate sponsorships.
– Deliver monthly reports on philanthropic progress.
Qualifications & Skills:
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; CFRE certification is preferred.
– Minimum of 5 years of experience in nonprofit development, with a demonstrated track record in individual, foundation, and corporate fundraising.
– Preferred experience in theater and live performance fundraising circles.
– Strong skills in relationship-building, communication, and project management.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and donor CRM software.
– Knowledge of fundraising principles, accounting practices, and donor stewardship.
– Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA) in philanthropy.
– Possession of a valid California Driver’s License with occasional travel requirements.
-This position must reside in San Diego County or within a 60 mile radius of the north county region of San Diego.
-This position requires attendance at weekly meetings and networking events within San Diego.
Compensation & Benefits:
– Salary Range: $85,000–$100,000
