The eighth edition of Sounds Like San Diego, will once again feature some of today’s top local artists performing their takes on songs made famous by artists from San Diego from 1960 to today. Curated and hosted by music historian Bart Mendoza, the evening also includes appearances by some of the original musicians, performing their classics. Song selections will include music from Iron Butterfly, The Cascades, Switchfoot, Jack Tempchin, David Gates, JJ Cale, Ratt and more!

There will be three themes running through the fast paced show – singer-songwriters, musical pioneers and sixties soul. This year’s performers are:

Jesse Davis: The legendary soul singer will sing his 1967 classic “Gonna Hang On In There Girl.”

The Dinettes: This pioneering all female band’s first show in 37 years! The Dinettes helped set the template that indie rockers follow today. The night includes original members Doriot Lair, Sue Delguidice, Joyce Rooks and Irene Liberatore (Dolan).

Wayne Riker: Author and guitarist was winner of the 2017 San Diego Music Awards Lifetime Achievement trophy. Will perform an original and a seventies favorite.

Johnny Vernazza: Former guitarist with 70’s hit makers, the Elvin Bishop Group; played with Van Morrison; most recently heard on “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie soundtrack.

True Stories: An all-star group of musicians that includes David Fleminger, Normandie Wilson, Symea Solomon and Greg Smith

Pony Death Ride: Acclaimed husband and wife musical comedy duo.

Plus appearances from Nina Francis, Peter Hall, Marie Haddad, Scott Mathiasen and more, all adding up to a fun night celebrating San Diego’s music community!
