Rancho Coastal Humane Society 5K Paw Walk

Until five years ago there had NEVER been a dog allowed in the San Diego Botanic Garden (SDBG) in Encinitas. Then came the first-ever 5K Paw Walk in the Garden benefiting your Rancho Coastal Humane Society and SDBG. More than 350 people with dogs put their best paws forward to support these two landmark organizations.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. So we crossed our fingers and prepared for the Second Annual 5K Paw Walk in the Garden. Would it work again, or was the first year a fluke?
When 655 people showed up that morning, we knew that it wasn’t a coincidence.
So we are BACK, for the sixth annual 5k Paw Walk in the Garden!
Sam Beukema, Education and Events Manager for the Garden says, “This has quickly become the walk that every dog will beg to go on.”
Walkers have the option of covering the full 5 kilometer / 3.1 mile course, but there are lots of options. It’s not competitive. You don’t even need a dog. You can go for speed and span…or enjoy the scenery and serenity of the gardens.
There will be pet products, food (for people), treats (for dogs), valuable information for dog lovers, a pet first aid station, and (of course) dogs!
