Get an insider look at the grant-making process from decision makers; learn what they really want from nonprofit partners and how to best position your organization for funding; and hear about funding priorities, interests, and requirements from local industry leaders.

Panelists include:

Chris Sichel joined the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation in 2021 as President & CEO following 25 years as a non-profit CEO in San Diego. Chris served as the President & CEO of Make-A-Wish San Diego from 2005 to 2021.  Prior to his years at Make-A-Wish, Chris oversaw STAR/PAL, San Diego’s Police Athletic League for seven years. Chris is well known as a thought leader within the San Diego non-profit and civic communities, and served as the 111th President of the San Diego Rotary Club in 2020/2021, and as the San Diego Rotary Foundation President in 2021/2022.

 

Sharon Omahen’s philanthropy work spans 40+ years. She has served as Coastal Community Foundation’s Executive Director since 2010. During that time, she helped to grow foundation assets and its grantmaking program. Prior to this, Sharon consulted with 100+ community foundations throughout the United States. She also provided training to nonprofits and founded the Children’s Museum (now the New Children’s Museum) in San Diego.

 

 

Trudy Armstrong joined The San Diego Foundation in 2008 and built the Escondido, Rancho Bernardo, 4SRanch-Del Sur, Ramona, and La Jolla affiliates. She was named Associate Vice President of Regional Outreach in 2011. Trudy oversees the Foundation’s affiliates throughout the region, including their grants programs. Prior to joining the Foundation, Trudy worked in the newspaper industry and held leadership positions at the Pomerado Newspaper Group and the Bernardo News.

 

 

Moderated by Sharyn Goodson, Vice President of Philanthropy, Leichtag Foundation.

Sharyn has over 25 years of experience in philanthropy, program design and delivery, organizational development, and nonprofit fundraising. She currently serves as Vice President of Philanthropy for Leichtag Foundation where she manages grantmaking, leads funder partnerships, and trains and counsels nonprofits. Sharyn holds the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credential and currently serves on the Steering Committee for the Alliance for Regional Solutions.
