Executive Director, Community Resource Center
Since completing his tour of service with the United States Army in 1992, John has been engaged in serving people through the non-profit sector. It is here that John learned the transcendent value of philanthropy. For John, there is no greater joy than when philanthropy and need meet to transform lives and communities.
John is an experienced non-profit leader having held senior positions in both organizational leadership and fund development. Through his experience with The Salvation Army, YMCA and Palomar Health, John has direct experience with capital, endowment, and major giving campaigns; and understands the importance of organizational advancement. During his non-profit career, John has been privileged to lead a diverse range of human service programs in Carson City, NV; Medford and Portland, OR; San Diego and Orange County, CA.
John’s work on the Endowment Campaign with The Salvation Army in Salem, Oregon, was the culmination of a community planning process that led to the investment of $70 million from an estate into the creation of a new program center. The estate gift, plus an additional $12 million from the endowment campaign, helped transform an empty industrial lot into a center of community activity.
“I’m particularly excited about joining the Community Resource Center because for nearly 40 years it represents the best this community has to offer its neighbors – self-giving, tireless compassion for others in need.”
Always concerned with helping others, John’s greatest strengths include team leadership, consensus building, strategic planning, campaign management, inspiring staff and volunteers, and a tireless devotion to mission success.
