Organization Description: Support The Enlisted Project (STEP) is a non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, with the mission of building financial well-being among active duty and recently discharged enlisted military and their families. STEP is headquartered in San Diego, CA, and has offices in Santa Ana, CA, and Lacey and Tacoma WA. The service area includes Washington State and the eight southernmost counties in California.
Reports to: Vice President of Philanthropy
Position Overview: The ideal candidate for this position is a dedicated development professional who enjoys leading a team to achieve goals in a fast-paced environment. Under the direction of the Vice President of Philanthropy and as a member of the Development Department team, the Development Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of fundraising and supervises Development staff members.
Position Responsibilities:
Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Manage the daily activities of the development department ensuring projects are completed and milestones met.
- Oversee project management of fundraising events including Golf Tournaments, Fall Social, Donor Receptions, and community fundraisers, ensuring team and volunteers complete tasks and achieve goals.
- Update and execute Annual Fundraising plan with focus on increasing individual and corporation donor opportunities.
- Lead implementation of donor recognition and stewardship activities
- Use the database to provide weekly and monthly reports and analytics
- Collaborate on marketing materials and agency messaging
- Represent the agency publicly
Required Qualifications
- Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritize workload to promptly meet deadlines
- Proven fundraising event planner and coordinator
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills to establish and maintain respectful working relationships with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, teamwork, professionalism, respect, dignity, and discretion
- Ability to listen and communicate fluently in English
- Ability to think creatively and efficiently, to analyze and solve problems
- Ability to work and thrive in fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters
- Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail to ensure absolute accuracy in all work performed
- Experience in seeking and cultivating relationships that lead to funding
- Experience with donor database required; knowledge of Salesforce preferred
- Experience with military community preferred, including veteran and military spouse classifications
- Must be proven-successful fundraiser, with Minimum 4 years’ experience in fundraising and a demonstrated deep understanding of fundraising best practices
- Provide friendly, donor-centered customer service, representing the agency in a professional and positive manner
- Strong supervisory skills
- Strong work ethics and commitment to team approach
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Pay: $65,000.00 – $70,000.00 per year
