Job Type: Non -exempt with a flexible schedule and some evenings and weekends as needed for events.
About the Foundation: The Foundation for Developmental Disabilities is a 501 © 3 organization that was established in 1986 to provide support in San Diego and Imperial Counties for individuals with developmental disabilities (and their families), and to raise and distribute monies to promote creative and innovative programs that enhance quality of life when needed services are not available from entities such as governmental or private resources. The Foundation has an annual revenue of $2 million with about 85% of the revenue coming from the lease of a building to the San Diego Regional Center. The building is approximately 66,000 square feet and is wholly owned by the Foundation.

Job Summary: A strategic thought partner to the Chief Executive Officer, the Development and Marketing Manager is responsible for planning and coordinating all aspects of fund development and public relations for the Foundation. The position also requires acting as the liaison between the Foundation and the Peterson building management company to ensure effective operations of the building.
Responsibilities:
Development, Marketing, and Public Relations (60%)
· In association with the CEO, develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to raise restricted and unrestricted funds.
· Educate people on charitable giving vehicles and customize giving approaches to match personal interests and tax planning needs.
· Help people create personal legacies via named funds and offer involvement in recommending uses of a gift.
· Build endowments to ensure grants are always available to support the community.
· Responsible for identifying new revenue streams including, but not limited to third-party fundraisers, peer-to-peer fundraising, and online campaigns.
· Research and develop strategic corporate partnerships.
· Manage marketing and communications for Foundation activities on social media, our website, and other venues.
· Research new grants available and work with CEO on grant writing and submission.
· Responsible for Donor newsletter and annual report.
· Develop and deliver branded collateral, presentations, marketing materials and communications; ensures consistent use of our brand, mission, and messaging.
· Organize and initiate contacts with media for interviews, statements, press releases, etc.
· Act as a community catalyst.
Grant Making (20%)
· Assists in the coordination of all aspects of programmatic development, implementation, and evaluation activities.
· Work with the CEO to monitor program budgets and project expenses.
· Monitor and report program activity status and challenges to the CEO.
· Monitor community needs and make recommendations to the CEO on grant making opportunities.
· Gather information and track local agencies and programs.
· Assist in directing grants and resources to appropriate areas.
· Foster the development of high quality programs to meet the needs of individuals with I/DD and their families.
· Ensure that “emergency help fund” requests are processed in a timely manner.
Operations (20%)
· Work closely with building management company to ensure building is maintained and functioning at the highest level.
· Handle any insurance issues related to the building. (e.g., Liability, Property Damage & Earthquake).
· Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree required.
· 5+ years’ experience working in development and fundraising with a proven track record of identifying new donors and sponsorships.
· Proficient in social media platforms and knowledge of Google Ad Words and Constant Contact.
· Experience with integrating social media into event planning and execution.
· Proven track record of generating revenue from various sources.
· Must be comfortable engaging individuals on the phone, zoom and in person.
· Exceptional written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
· Ability to work with minimal supervision – self-motivated & confident.
· Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
· Must have access to reliable transportation and be willing to drive for events and grantee site visits.
· Must have knowledge of the San Diego non-profit sector, preferably in the field of developmental disabilities.
Salary Range & Benefits
This is a full-time non-exempt position with a salary range of $65,000 – 70,000. The Foundation also offers a generous benefit package with paid time off, health, dental, vision insurance and a 401k package after 6 months of start date.
